It all began at the age of six in the souk of Marrakesh. Founder Mahmoud Maataoui was already selling handmade souvenirs to tourists as a child in 1984 – with heart, pride, and a deep love for authentic craftsmanship. This passion accompanied him all the way to Germany, where he founded the company in Bonn in 2005. From this idea grew a family business that continues to unite cultural authenticity, creativity, and quality to this day.
Living like in the south – that is our style. Our collection includes handcrafted furniture, lighting, rugs, ceramics, textiles, accessories, and much more. Styles such as boho, vintage, Moroccan, or industrial come together in unique collections. We love natural materials, work with recycled fabrics, and support craftsmanship from regions where modern opportunities are not always accessible – such as woven baskets made by women in the Atlas Mountains who produce from home.
A building straight out of One Thousand and One Nights – right in the Rhineland. In 2016, together with Cologne-based architect G. Fischer, we built a unique exhibition, office, and warehouse space covering 3,000 m². From the outside, it impresses with battlements, arches, and palm trees like an oriental palace. Inside, you will find colorful walls, handmade tiles, and artistically crafted stair railings – a place full of magic that not only reflects but truly embodies our philosophy.
